Hot Springs

We intended on going into the Arlington Hotel lobby for a drink before dinner but by the time we went back to the condo to check on Rex it and change it started pouring and we didn't want to walk around in the rain.
Me and Rex just watching some Law and Order.
Rex is so happy to be with his dad.
The new Gangster Museum in downtown Hot Springs. IT is actually very neat and interesting.
Another pic outside the museum. Dan with his fellow gangsters :)
Loco Burrito is a little mexican restaurant in downtown Hot Springs that we just decided to walk in and have lunch. It was pretty much the best mexican restaurant I have ever been to. It was a fun discovery.
Dan and I took a trip to Hot Springs this past weekend. We stayed at my parents condo on Lake Hamilton and didn't actually go out on the lake but went into downtown Hot Springs for the day. We got there on Friday night and ordered Pizza Hut on our way in because we were starving and didn't want to wait at a restaurant to eat.
We played dominoes on Friday night after dinner and guess who won...that's right...I did! :) We were supposed to rematch on Saturday but that didn't happen. We slept in Saturday till 9, which is big time for us, and laid around not doing much. We finally got going around 12 and drove into downtown. That's when we discovered Loco Burrito. IT was DELICIOUS! We then toured the Gangster Museum which was very cool. Learned a lot about the history of Hot Springs that I never knew. We just walked around on Central Ave. and bopped in and out of stores all afternoon. We had decided we were going to get a drink at the Arlington and then go eat at a restaurant suggested by my parents called Pompeii. We went back to the condo to let Rex out and change and it started pouring down rain. We looked at each other and were both like we do not want to get back out in the rain. So we called in Outback and they bring it out to your car. I know, that's lazy and impatient, but we were on vaca! :) It was a lot of fun. We ate and watched Law and Order and just hung out.
It was a great weekend to get away and relax and just be together. We had so much fun! And back to the real world we were on Monday.
But, we are blessed to be going to my cousins wedding in VA this weekend. I do have to work Saturday but we are flying out as soon as I get off and will be there until Monday. It's gonna be so fun!

Our kids :)

Tyson-our backyard boy
Sometimes they like to play together. Rex is kind of a wuss about it though and gets tired real fast. Imagine that?!
Dan with our boys. We could never get them both to look at the same time.
Running and fighting over the toy.
Dan and his first boy.

Ok so this is random but I just figured out how to get the pictures on here in a decent order and write captions right under the picture it was intended for. So sorry about the first few posts and it being kind of disorderly.

I just thought I would put up some photos of the dogs playing in the back yard. We frequently get asked how they get along and if we are going to keep Tyson. So, yes, we are going to keep Tyson...we love him too much to give him away. And yes, they do get along. But like I said before, Rex is kind of a wuss so he doens't last too long in the backyard. They do growl and sniff a lot but that's just dogs. They love to just chase each other...with absolutely no purpose. Figured some of you would enjoy this.

July 4th

The cute lil kitchen and the bedroom with the pull out bed.
Rex and Dan playing in the creek and a pic of the cabin from the back.

My sexy husband.

The fish we are both holding is the one I caught. :) It was the biggest one of the 2 we caught!

The front of the cabin, the kitchen table and half bath.

This is from July 4th but I thought some people would enjoy seeing the pics and hearing about our mini vacation. Dan and I decided to go to my great aunt's cabin in Heber Springs. My Aunt Kay and Uncle Van live on the Red Apple golf course in Heber Springs but a couple miles down the road they have some farm land with a couple of ponds, some horses, cows, etc. They also have a one bedroom little ole cabin on that land. We went up on Friday and had lunch with Aunt Kay and Uncle Van at their house and took a tour of their house and her magnificent garden. Then she took us down to the cabin and we got ready to go fishin'. Well, when you have a Chocolate Lab that absolutely loves the water and doesn't obey very well, it's hard to fish. We got down there and got all set up and we left Rex in the car with the windows cracked so he wouldn't get in the water and disturb the fish. Before we could even get down to the bank he had jumped out of the window and dove straight in the water. Needless to say we only caught one or two fish that afternoon but it was still a blast. We had fun visiting with my aunt and uncle and just being outside relaxing.

Once we quit fishing we went to the cabin and let me just tell you about this awesome cabin. It has a front porch and a huge back porch. When you go in from the front you walk straight into the kitchen that has a sink and a portable stove and a fridge. She put some really cool, old decorative things in there to make it look real rustic. There is a small half bath off the kitchen and to the right of the kitchen is the bedroom/living room/den. It had a small tv with a couch that folded out into a bed. It was the neatest little place I have ever seen. That is right up Dan and I's alley too b/c we love the outdoors and we hope to one day build our own log cabin to live in and raise our kids in. Anyways, out back is just some more land but there is a creek that flows a little ways back there. We went romping around in that Saturday morning.

On Friday night cooked us some hot dog wieners on the portable stove and made some smores. YUMMY!!! After dinner we took baths in the sink with washcloth and soap. It was a fun experience. We went and watched the fireworks display put on in downtown Heber Springs. It was really good. Saturday we got up and it was absolutely pouring down rain! It rained most of the morning but we did go back out and fish for a little while and caught nothing. Rex even stayed back at the cabin for that trip. We took him to the creek to play that afternoon.

Daniel's grandma and dad both live in Heber so we went and had lunch with his mom and grandma on Saturday and then visited with his dad after lunch. IT was good to see them b/c we don't get to do that very often. We went back, packed up and headed home that night since it was raining so much. We knew we probably wouldn't catch anymore fish.

It was a great weekend and we can't wait to do it again! Hopefully soon.

Job update

These are just some random pictures that I felt like putting up. The one to the left of us in the blue is from our honeymoon. The one below is obviously from the wedding in Gatlinburg.

The picture to the left is of me and my dear friend Laura Jennings hanging out in our cabin the week of the wedding. I think we were catching up on our Grey's Anatomy at this time...the important things in life. Below is me and my dad before the wedding...one of my favorite pictures.

Oh, I found a lake picture that Brian sent me. I love it...it was such a beautiful but hot night! Me and Lauren sweated all through dinner. I know that's attractive.

Hey hey!
Well, looks like I'm gonna be working at the bank for a while. I finally (after leaving abour 4 or 5 different messages) heard back from the lady at Conway Regional and she hired someone else already because she needed someone immediately and I was having to talk to my boss at the bank. God answered my prayers. I obviously was not meant to work there right now. She did say she was still interested in me and would call me as soon as she had another opening which she expected to happen within the next few months.

As for ACNC, they have not called back since the interview. I am assuming they did not want to take a chance with hiring me since I am applying for the Dietetic Internship in February. At the most they would have me for about 9 months and they were looking for someone more long term. So, it all worked out the way it is supposed to for now. I do need more experience in the nutrition field so if anyone knows of any job openings that could benefit me, let me know please.

Dan is still in Searcy. They just moved offices this week so that has been a huge chore for Dan. He is loving it. He is also working on getting his Real Estate License so he can sale real estate on the side. He is very excited about that.

Besides work, not a lot has been going on. We went to the lake the first weekend of August with Lauren, Justin, Brian, Sydney, Mom, and Dad but we have no pictures to prove it because Dan's camera died on us. It was tons of fun and a much needed break. I had not seen Lauren since the wedding pretty much so it was fun to hang out and relax. The 2nd weekend in August we went to Searcy for our nephew's swim birthday party. It was so good to see most of Dan's family and visit with them. Kelsy and Landon were excited we came.

This coming weekend we are going on a mini vacation to Hot Springs. We are going to stay in Mom and Dad's condo and go do touristy things in downtown Hot Springs. We are ready to just hang out together and relax. Plus, we get to take ole Rex with us so we don't have to hire a dog sitter.

I am starting grad school on Thursday. I guess that's some big news..I got accepted! :) YAY! I am taking 9 hours and they are all online. I am taking Current Findings in Food, Nutrition in Exercise in Sports, and Research in Health. Some classes I am actually very excited about taking and learning more about.

I am also attempting to train for a triatholon right now. Not really doing what I should be doing to properly train but I am doing it for fun and just to say I attempted a triatholon. I am not worried at all about running or swimming...it's the biking that's gonna get me. We will see. It is Sept. 14 so anyone who wants to come support--feel free :)

I am going to try to do better with updates. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Rex and MommaD hanging out on the boat and Tyson chillin' in the back yard

Ok so Dan and I are a little slow on getting this started. To update you with what is going on with us. Dan took a full-time position with Robert at Underwood Construction in Searcy, AR as the Office Manager. He really likes his job and is learning lots. He really doesn't like the hour drive to and from Searcy though. Hopefully once we figure more out about me then we can shorten that trip for him. As for me, I am currently working as a part-time teller at Bank of the Ozarks in Conway, AR. I interviewed earlier this summer at Conway Regional for a Clinical Diet Assistant position that would be every other weekend. I just heard back from the lady last week with a job offer. I have not given her an answer because it would mean that I would have to quit at the bank (weekends would interfere) and look for a different part time job that didn't conflict. Also, I had an interview this past Tuesday morning in Little Rock with Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center for the position of a Nutrition Research Assistant. It would be a really fun job. I think I would enjoy it for now but it's not something I am interested in doing long term. I have not heard back from them yet. So, everyone be praying for us and the decisions I have to make regarding jobs within the next few days. I am leaning towards the Conway Regional weekend job and looking for another part-time job but I am trying to keep an open mind to everything. I want to be exactly where the Lord wants me. Daniel has been super encouraging through it all and has told me that he would support me no matter what. I have been super stressed and worried that I'll make the wrong decision. We are just thankful that the Lord has given us options and I am not stuck at home without a job completely. He has been so good to us and has blessed us beyond what we ever imagined.

Rex is doing great :) He has been so good since I started working. His favorite thing is to get on the big bed in Dan and I's room when no one is home because he knows he is not allowed on it when we're here. We are thinking about setting up a camera to video him and see exactly what he does while we're gone all day. I think he has also found his place on the couch, which is a no-no too. He's pretty sneaky! Tyson is also doing great. He has been so hot. I feel so bad for him outside but he's tough. He makes it. Today it is supposed to rain so hopefully it will cool him off a bit. His favorite thing is to sit and watch through the cracks of the gate and bark at all the kids in the neighborhood. At least we know now that no one will ever try to mess with us since he is in the back yard. :)

Anyways, just a little update on us. Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday. I better go get ready for work!
